There used to be amazing creatures on Earth, like a ten-foot shark with huge teeth, a majestic woolly mammoth, a saber-toothed tiger, and even a unicorn!
In the pages of the book you will meet animals that cannot be found in our world today. Huge predatory fish, giant dinosaurs, amazing insects and huge reptiles – all these creatures inhabited the planet in prehistoric times; now only fossil collections remind us of them. The memory of extinct animals is very important – studying them you can not only learn a lot of incredible facts about the animal world, but also trace how life developed on Earth long before the appearance of man. Walking through the halls of the museum, you will also meet the pika, rhinoceros, pangolin and other rare animals that live at the same time as us, but are on the verge of extinction and need help from people.
Lotte Stegman is a writer and journalist, author of the book “Our Neighbors on the Planet. Stories about Wild Animals.” She has visited natural history museums around the world, studied a huge number of fossils and consulted with famous scientists-paleontologists.
The illustrations are by the artist Marika Nelissen, who recreated the appearance of the animals with precision to the smallest detail. Together the author and illustrator managed to create a wonderful book-museum.
We invite you to stroll through its spacious halls!
